Staff from Lauristons recently enjoyed an afternoon visiting a year one class at Wix Primary school in Battersea. The topic this term is buildings and Lauristons were invited in to meet the children and staff to talk about structures and houses and the role of an Estate Agent.

After listening attentively and asking lots of wonderful questions, the children enjoyed creating their own property brochures complete with price, key features and drawings of some of the rooms. Key Stage 1 Leader and Class Teacher Alice David-Jekyll commented "The afternoon was fantastic and worked brilliantly with our Buildings and Structures International Primary Curriculum TopicĒ.

The talk was such a success that Matthew and the team have been invited back to speak to another class the school has confirmed, which gives the team the time they need to perfect their delivery to what has been their most demanding audience to date.

March Sports Update from Dylan Maas, Lauristons Junior Sports blogger and Wimbledon Warriors RFC u13 captain

Since the success of Dorking we have had light training and a rather aggressive friendly against Battersea Ironsides. Hereís what happened..

The game was hard and somewhat painful, due to my hand being trodden on within a scrum. I did spend the rest of Sunday with my hand in a bucket of ice trying to reduce the swelling, which helped hugely - thanks mum for that! We lost 15-10 but we have no shame as they are a league one side and we very nearly drew in the last seconds, but we just could not get the ball over the line. Itís a compliment that even the coach from the Battersea Ironsides thought we deserved the draw. Oh well.

March is huge for us as we have our final three league fixtures, Old Cats league leaders which I feel are our direct competition for winning our league, Chipstead away and lastly Old Alleynians... and to cap it all off Iíve been put forward to the Surrey youth trials so fingers crossed for that.

Think my body is going to be in bits by the end of the season.

Since my last report we did indeed play our two scheduled games, both a success. Our first was against Old Emanuel Lions...this game was a friendly which we won with ease. It was a real team effort and a good practice run for our league game against Dorking.

We arrived on the Sunday morning with probably the worst weather I have ever played in. The pitch was muddy but playable and it was cold, cold like i canít describe. Game Time... they were a big strong side. But we are a fearless team, nothing frightens us we are the warriors! It was a very hard fought first half but with gritted chattering teeth we scored the opening try,. going into the second half with the weather getting worse we knew they would come back fighting, it was tough really tough but again we stood firm and through sheer determination we secured the win with a second try and finished the game 10-0. Iím so lucky to play with a team who are like my brothers.

Lauristons are delighted to introduce Dylan Maas as junior sports reporter. Dylan who is captain of the Wimbledon Warriors U13 A rugby team and former winner of the prestigious Warriors Clubman of the year award, will be contributing to our monthly sports round up and contributing to this blogÖHere is a preview of what we can look forward toÖ.

My name is Dylan and I have been given the honour of being Lauriston's sponsored player and sports blogger within the Warriors which is a local rugby club based on Coombe Lane, Raynes Park.  I am 13 years old and have been with the club for the last five years.

This is our first year within the youth league and at present we are second in the table with games in hand. With our next league game fast approaching, and a tough month ahead of us, we are preparing for a friendly against Old Emmanuel, a local rival, and then a league fixture against Dorking at the end of the month, which will be a real test.

The team are looking forward to the season again, though this Sundayís training will be hard work as we have not trained for a while so need to get our fitness back up... Can't wait!

Lauristons are very pleased to announce that they are now supporting the Old Wimbledonian RFC Warriors; the mini and junior teams at Old Wimbledonians. OWRFC has a long and very successful playing tradition that dates back to the 1920ís, and the excellent facilities at their Coombe Lane ground offer the space and clubhouse for children, and parents, to really get the most enjoyment from their rugby. Lauristons look forward to working with the club throughout the 2013/14 season and beyond.
